for some reason i thought i was done.
i can not tell you why. it's just that, it seemed this year i wrote down so many songs, that i kind of thought that was it. like done, fini, no more. and this year coming i would refine, tweak, and maybe make one decent casio free recording. ahh, my dream.
and then the gift came.
this is the only song i was ever to write. the song that if i never wrote another word, it was all for this, i am finished now, this is the pearl.

but, i have thought that before......
why is it that the last song is the song that i think is the very best? does this happen to everyone? do we really get better at writing? or is it the newness of the song, the new words and melody that makes our heart soar? the fact that once again He has allowed me this privilege, to serve and sing glory to His name? so many others to sing, to write, and yet He picks me? wow. i am so not worthy to do this... Lord, do you know me? me? You do? and You let me? pen this? what am I supposed to do with it?
Guide me Jesus, these are Your songs.
now to get it to the point where others will hear it, and they will know You too.

Lord willing, and the creek dont rise

what an adventure...........
aren't we all on a wonderful adventure?
He has called us to do this.
we are in the band!
How awesome is that?

Now and again I am blessed to write a new song (well, in my case lyrics and melody only) that does seem like the best thing I have ever written. But there is an older song that God allowed me to pen that is still the first one that will go on a CD if I ever make one--a rock song that is unlike most of what I write. Perhaps that is why it is still special to me, but perhaps it is just that it hasn't had it's chance yet to come out of the box. There are times when I get frustrated that I don't seem to be moving on and finishing anything, and yet new songs still come. What should I spend my time on, the new or the old? Tough questions, but my heart is excited to hear the answer. Yes, such a wonderful adventure!
