Post subject: The Verge Of Panic
Permanent LinkPosted: November 30th, 2008, 11:53 pm
The more I've been researching current events, trends in the media, corruption (rampant) in our government and the evident world crisis we about to enter into... the more panic started to creep its way into my thinking.

Today, while contemplating all these ugly issues, wondering what I should do, I was reminded suddenly of a couple of instances wherein I confronted forces far greater then myself and God intervened on my behalf. As if God was telling me "These issues are beyond your power but not mine, and, I am with you."

PEACE,
Ray

Amen, Ray...we do need to be active Christians (VOTING, for instance), but there are some things we just have to leave up to God to deal with.

Blessings,
James

Thanks James,

I had no idea how Obama's election would affect me. As some may have noticed by my rant on 'random notes' I'm no fan of his politics. I really don't like the Clinton's political views or Biden's. In my opinion government has grown way out of proportion and the powers granted to the president are off the charts. Now that the president elect is for all intensive purposes a socialist and Bush passed the Military Commissions Act my mind started reeling.

However, I'm reminded no matter what is coming, as you said above and previously, God is in control. That doesn't mean I should stop being active in doing my part, but, that I can do so CALMLY. That's a lesson I have to re-learn from time to time.

Taking a few deep breaths...

PEACE,
Ray

Wow! I posted something and it vanished into cyberspace! Total bummer!!!

OK, I'll try posting it again: Too bad I didn't make a copy of the post that disappeared.

The military commissions act that I spoke of above was revoked by the supreme court June 7, 2008. I was waiting for someone to point that out. Since no one did I thought I'd do it myself. Bush signed that act into law which was a breach of the Constitution. That act gives the president power to incarcerate anyone foreign or citizen in this country without cause and without habeas corpus (representation). In times past under Wilson, Roosevelt, Adams, American citizens were unlawfully imprisoned through such an act.

Obama, voted against this act for which I applaud him. McCain supported the act. It's unconstitutional to invoke this act unless we are in a time of unlawful civil uprising or under invasion by a foreign power according to my understanding. The act that Bush put into law allowed for torture as a means of interrogation.

I wonder how many of us were aware the act had been invoked and how many of us were aware it had been rescinded? Of course, I probably wasn't challenged on the issue because no one read my blog.

It does seem important to me that we keep up on these types of matters. It is frightening to think a president could invoke such authority without the consent of the constitutions provisions. That's why I'm hoping and praying we return to strict adherence to the constitution. It's really the only thing that prevents law makers from taking away our free speech. That is outside of the fear of a mob uprising. However, if we have a military police force in this country and that act is invoked. YIKES!!!

Regarding any legal issues or opinions I've raised, PLEASE feel free to correct me. I am a fledgling at voicing my opinions in this arena.
